Natural Jazz, a blog about food (my love language), wellness and travel!

When I was a kid, my family mostly ate quick and easy to prepare, and consequently, unhealthy meals. We also rarely travelled, except to southern Alberta to visit family, and one amazing trip to Disneyland! Although we were involved in sports and always outside, we had no idea what exercise meant.

My journey to healthy eating began when I started to “spice things up” with adding real tomatoes to Chef Boyardee, fresh veggies in lasagnas, and basic fruit smoothies in high school. Fast forward more than a decade and now I focus even more on eating a well-balanced diet.

Having completed an elimination diet upon my Naturopath’s advice, I know that gluten and I are definitely not friends, and soy, tomatoes, and chocolate on a regular basis can really affect me. It is not a wonder that when I am conscious of what I eat, I feel great!

Today, I live with my wonderful 2 dogs (Whisper and Shadow), my son, and my husband. My dogs are constant motivators in my wellness journey, specifically maintaining a physically active lifestyle. With their high energy levels and my goal to stay healthy, we are usually out for a walk or a hike, no matter the weather.

Aside from my furry daughters, my sanity comes from travel. One thing I have learned about myself, if I do not get out of the city often enough, I start to go stir crazy! Cue my frequent hikes, camping trips throughout the summer, and if I can, a yearly international trip.
