I am super lazy in the morning and often find it difficult to get out of bed right away. I mean it does not help that Whisper and Shadow just love snuggling in the morning. They also need lots of love and pets to get moving, cannot forget their morning belly rubs! I wouldn’t have it any other way though, it’s one of the best ways to wake up. So, since we drag our butts in the morning, this smoothie is the perfect pick me up before our morning walk.
This smoothie is light and filled with anti-inflammatory foods. Not to mention, if you’re anything like me and you don’t always get enough veggies, it’s a great way to sneak in some extra servings!
It takes little to no time to prepare, so let me get to it!
You will need fresh spinach, lemon, ginger, frozen mango, and dairy free milk (I use gluten free oat milk or almond milk).
Optional additions: I like to add turmeric powder when I have some, for extra anti-inflammatory benefits. I only add a little bit, maybe 1/8 teaspoon so the flavour doesn’t change. I also add a scoop of protein powder, since I struggle to get enough protein in throughout the day. I add a full scoop of Vega French Vanilla, but this is a gritty protein powder so, feel free to swap with your favourite or leave it out.
To make: Place all ingredients in the blender, it is best to add the fresh fruits and veggies first and liquid last. Blend on high until everything is mixed together and is a smooth consistency. Drink immediately for the best flavour. (Pro tip: add water and dish soap to your blender immediately after serving and turn on high for a quick and easy wash. Then simply dump and rinse out the suds.)
I hope this smoothie leaves you feeling fresh and revitalized!
Makes a quick, simple and healthy breakfast.
